Day 5 - Going Well

Since I will have lots of time during the week, I decided I would make Friday my official house cleaning day. This was my 'cleaning day' in college and other times I was job free (when we moved due to new employment for Steve). I have always liked having the entire weekend to just chill and have a nice relaxing time with Steve. So, this makes perfect sense to take up this routine again.

Today was easier to get out of bed. Yay! I was up and doing things around the house by 7:45 am. I was shocked when I looked at the clock, and I was already hunting for jobs online before 8 am.

I've noticed the best way for me to get motivated is to get my butt out of the house for a while. Once I get out, smell the fresh air, I feel more motivated to come back home and tackle my to do list. So, I decided I would do something fun! I stopped by my favorite shop Antiques on Elm Street. Of course, Lucky came along with me too.

After I was done at the antique store (I didn't buy anything), I decided to drive to downtown Elm Street to see if any  new shops or restaurants had opened. When I worked in Manchester, Dana and I used to take long walks all around the mill district. And I always noticed that shops were opening and closing pretty regularly on Elm Street. There were a couple I saw that were new, but I also decided if there was a spot open in front of the Queen City Cupcakes shop, I would stop in. And there actually was a spot open. Crazy. So, I went in and picked out two cupcakes, one for me (Caramel Salted Chocolate) and one for Steve (Guinness).  Oh man! Was that cupcake AMAZING! My expectations were set pretty low, because I wasn't happy with the two other cupcake shops in the area I had tried.

Then, I went to get my car washed. It was pretty gross too. The cool thing about Infinity Car Wash in Manchester, they have clean towels, soapy water and free vacuums you can use after you get out the wash. Very cool.

After I arrived home, I washed the dog. We both hate bathing him. It's not easy, and it's impossible to get him very dry. His coat is like a SPONGE that will not ever ring out. Last month, I actually used the hair dryer on him. ha ha! He didn't seem to mind so much.

More laundry, then I managed to clean up all the fallen limbs in the front yard.

So, I have to say it was a very productive day. Not in the employment realm, but I did not plan on doing much on Fridays that involved job hunting.

So, one week down. Who knows how many to go. We shall see! Until next week...

A day of enjoyment before going back to work

I decided I should do some fun things today, since it is my last day of not working full-time. I enjoyed a pedicure, which was very nicely done. I prefer going to a hair salon to get my nails done, but most of them were closed today. So, I ended up at a nail salon. I always worry about the cleanliness of those salons, but I went anyways. Afterwards, I went to Goodwill and found a few more things that I can wear to work. Since the boss seems to be concerned about her employees dressing 'too casual,' I decided I should invest in a few dressier looking outfits, because I totally was super relaxed at Tackle Marketing. I was wearing flip flops, t-shirts and capris a lot during the Summer. I found a couple of really adorable dresses. One is a bit snug, so I will have to spend some time trying to slim down for it to be comfortable. But I am very pleased with my purchases. Day 15 - Time to Learn!

But first, I did some SPRING CLEANING! I was drinking my morning tea in bed, looking at how unorganized my closets were in the bedroom. Staring at the piles of sheets thrown into the top of my closet shelf made me feel uneasy. So, since I had no set plans for this morning, I just started organizing. There are many pins out there stating you should "use your pillow cases to keep your sheets neat and orderly". Of course, I don't even want to bother with learning how 'easy' it is to fold fitted sheets. That might be the case if you are patient, which I am not. So, I stuffed my sheets in various pillow cases. Then, I decided I would utilize the shelves where I have millions of Steve's hats sitting that never get worn, and a few pairs of shoes. The shelves will be a lot more user friendly, and the sheets will be much easier to access. For now, I can place all my boots up top since I won't be wearing those again until winter. Day 18 - First Unemployment Paycheck!

It was nice to see that I received my first unemployment check deposit yesterday. I was certain I probably missed the deadline to post my jobs search information after I went to the meeting last Friday, but luckily I made it! Yay! I went to the farm, which was pretty cool. Michelle was very busy, which was to be expected. It was fun to take see what goes into having a pasta sauce and pasta company. Too much work for me, personally! I don't think I would want all that responsibility. I also stopped by a cemetery on the way back home. It was pretty cool. The old cemeteries don't fascinate me as much as they used to, but I do enjoy walking around for a few minutes.  The rest of the day, I took a couple of walks and read my book. I also applied for about 4 other jobs.
