Alma Block


Midwest City, OK--Police have issued an arrest warrant in the death of a 78-year-old Midwest City woman. A judge signed an arrest warrant naming Kimberly Hegwood, 35, a Midwest City resident, as a suspect in the death of Alma Block. Block was found dead in her home at 9904 NE 10th Street by a friend who had come to the house to take her to a prayer meeting.The friend called 911 to say Block was unresponsive and bleeding. Police said evidence indicates Block suffered trauma. Officers are working with the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner's Office.A stranger to Block, Hegwood approached her in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart store at 9011 NE 23rd Street at about 3 p.m. on Monday, police said. Hegwood allegedly told Block she was a home health care nurse and offered to assist unloading her groceries at Block's home.The affidavit indicates that Hegwood attacked Block, stabbing the woman in her neck. Investigators said Hegwood then went to her home at 9622 NE 4th Street, less than a mile from Block's residence, and told relatives she had done something "bad," later admitting to killing the woman.


Alma was my mother's Sunday School teacher for over 20 years. She will be greatly missed.
